We have been on a Nashville kick lately. I heard that Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes were playing there and I had to buy tickets. We made a little trip out of it and it was super fun.
Our favorite area of town right now is 12 South. It has the cutest shops and some really fun restaurants too. We started with a coffee at the Frothy Monkey, a cool coffee house. From there we stopped in Imogene + Willie and ogled the posh denim and Aesop products. I picked up some geranium body wash, which smells heavenly.
We stopped in White’s Mercantile and tried out the goop beauty products. Much to Harper’s dismay we missed Taylor Swift by five minutes. It is Nashville after all. They have a really well curated selection of goods and Dan found some fun tees for the pool.
There some other shops you will definitely want to pop into as well. Draper James is Reese Witherspoon’s flagship store. It’s interior is lovely with blue and white everything and yellow accents. The line has super pretty pieces with a southern flare. Read Chanel with cute quips and light blue lining. Cadeau is a pretty boutique offering California style gifts and home decor. This Summer Classics outpost is pretty cute too. They have fun outdoor settings and all the trimmings.
For dinner, we headed to Bartaco. The interior is really great. Everything is breezy and navy and white. The service is spot on too! We tried three types of tacos and the cauliflower with romesco sauce was my favorite! The grilled corn and the Sashito cocktail topped my list too!!
When you have kiddos, you cannot pass a Sprinkles. We all love the cupcakes here, but the ice cream is what we fell for this time. The milk chocolate malt is just insane. It’s super chocolate malt ice cream with crushed chocolate covered malt balls. Yum!
The Ascend Amphitheater is a really cool venue and if you have the chance you should really check out a show there. It overlooks the river and sunsets there are pretty cool. The fireflies were buzzing around and the whole evening was pretty great.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes were pretty amazing. I have to say that i am a hippie at heart and I absolutely love this band. We heard a lot of their new music and some of my favorites like “Home” and “Man on Fire.” Preservation Hall Jazz Band opened up for Edward Sharpe and joined them for a few songs. The show was great and we all enjoyed it!
The next morning we grabbed brunch at Pinewood Social. The have bowling and a pool that we want to enjoy on our next visit. I had a goat cheese and mushroom omelet that was pretty phenomenal. The potatoes that came with it were the potatoes to end all potatoes. Another cool thing about pinewood social is the interior complete with this cool mural and great neon.
We stopped in the gulch to snap a pic with this mural and headed home. It was a quick but fun break from reality!
On our way back home we took one last pic of these pretty wildflowers. Summer in the south sure is pretty!
Cheers to hitting the road!
