Design is one of the best expressions of self. We have the opportunity to incorporate our travels and experiences into our everyday. We moved a while back, and I have been thinking about how I want to design my living room. I want to incorporate some traditional elements, some chic and stylish pieces and keep the palate breezy and coastal. I want the feel to be modern traditional.
This gold sunburst mirror would look fantastic centered above the mantle. These ikat chairs are great pieces and work well with the patterned rug. the gold is pulled through with this chic little side table and hammered bowl.
This chesterfield sofa gives a classic touch that anchors the room. This chandelier is a great piece to set an elegant but whimsical tone. I love these linen curtains hung right at the ceiling and pooling a bit on the floor to create a luxurious feel. These ottomans make a great coffee table when paired in front of the sofa. The fun upholstery pulls the color of the chandelier through. Switching out the pillows on the sofa for these fun patterned ones is a great way to add another blue hue.
Using rustic pieces in a traditional way is a great way to make a smooth transition while incorporating different items. I love this weathered table and mirror paired with these fun lamps to create a more formal look. This fabulous fabric would make a wonderful upholstered wall. The beads, zinc letter, and seashell collection reiterate the beach vibe.
Different patterns give the room a layered and sophisticated feel. Blue china always gives a traditional air to an otherwise eccentric setting. These pieces would look great grouped on the mantle. An otherwise traditional equestrian print looks current and elegant in triptych form.
I love these balloon chairs from Layla Grayce. They would anchor the room and give it some drama. The rug is beautiful and elegant. I think grouping a collection of sunburst mirrors would make this seating area fun!
