This fall my husband and I have been in Midway and Versailles quite a bit. Fall is so amazing and beautiful there. The weather is supposed to be really beautiful this weekend and it would be a great weekend for a country drive.
My husband grew up here and made me fall in love with the area. It would have never occurred to me to spend time in the country when I was in college. Seeing the area through his eyes makes it romantic and a little magical.
We love to take the Versailles us 60 exit off I64. We then make a left on Old Frankfort Pike. This is our favorite street. From Old Frankfort Pike you can drive down Pisgah Pike, Paynes Mill Road, Big Sink Road, and Woodlake Road. These are some of the loveliest views of horse country. We dream of owning a home there. It is so amazing.
A few weeks back, we went to Wallace Station for lunch, which I always adore. We split a pimento cheese sandwich with sprouts and it was heavenly. This would be a beautiful place for lunch. Last weekend, we had dinner at Mezzo in Midway. The space and the staff were very inviting. We split the vegetarian pizza and it was delicious! You should check it out! Another great place to pop in for lunch is Sage Garden Cafe at Wilson Nurseries. They are just getting out Christmas decor and have a great selection of bulbs to plant now for spring.
